Since the beginning of the operation in Russia’s Kursk region, Ukraine has captured 594 Russian soldiers and now controls over 100 settlements, covering an area of 1,294 square kilometers.

"To date, we have taken control of 1,294 square kilometers of territory, which includes 100 settlements. We have also significantly increased our exchange fund: currently, 594 Russian servicemen have been captured in this direction," stated Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.

He noted that one of the objectives of the Kursk operation was to divert substantial Russian forces from other areas, specifically from Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.

"At present, we can confirm that approximately 30,000 Russian troops have already been redeployed to the Kursk direction, and this number is continuing to rise," said the commander-in-chief.

Syrskyi emphasized that while the Russians are attempting to withdraw units from other directions, they are actually intensifying their efforts in the Pokrovsk direction.
