One million drones purchased with state funds have been successfully delivered to the front lines, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his evening address on October 14.

“As of today, there are already one million drones that have been purchased at state expense and delivered to the front. And this is only the state's contribution,” said Zelenskyy.

Drone warfare has become a pivotal aspect of Russia’s war in Ukraine, with both countries utilizing drones for a wide range of tactical and strategic purposes.

In the middle of September, Zelenskyy signed a law, according to which the Unmanned Systems Forces were defined as a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the last couple of years, Ukraine has been ramping up the production of its own drones. According to Forbes, Ukraine now has over 200 registered companies producing military drones. Industry insiders suggest the number exceeds 500 when including smaller firms and volunteers working from garages, with these producers collectively supplying troops with hundreds of thousands of drones each month.
