Ukraine Develops VR Simulator to Train Soldiers Against FPV Drone Threats, Video

A Ukrainian company has introduced a new virtual reality (VR) simulator aimed at helping soldiers FPV drones, which are increasingly used in frontline attacks.
The simulator was developed by Atmaraksi, a company focused on training technologies for the defense sector. It is designed to simulate shooting at FPV drones with a hunting shotgun, allowing service members to train in a safe and controlled virtual environment that closely mirrors real battlefield conditions.
According to the company, the simulator helps users improve basic skills such as stance, aim, and reaction time, while also building confidence through repeated practice in various scenarios. The idea is to create muscle memory and reduce hesitation under pressure.
The training scenarios were developed with input from veterans who have experience dealing with FPV drones during combat. Virtual drones approach from different directions and at varying speeds, helping to make the training feel more realistic.
Instructors can adjust the difficulty level of the training, including options to turn on or off features like lead shooting or visual aiming guides.

Developers say that going through hundreds of practice runs can help make a soldier’s response more instinctive, which may improve their performance in real situations.
The simulator can be used both for basic training and ongoing skill development. It follows other recent efforts in Ukraine to use VR technology for drone defense, including training systems delivered to border guard units.
Previously, it was reported that Ukrainian defense company TENETA developed a new lightweight, single-use anti-drone device designed to counter enemy FPV drones and reconnaissance quadcopters.
