Ukraine Documents Over 213,000 Russian War Crimes Since Start of Full-Scale Invasion

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, authorities have recorded approximately 213,200 incidents of war crimes committed by Russian forces.
As of early March 2026, Ukrainian courts have issued verdicts for 242 individuals, including 22 who were sentenced while in custody, according to Suspilne News on March 4.

Taras Semkiv, a representative from the Office of the Prosecutor General, noted that the legal process has reached various stages for over a thousand individuals linked to these crimes.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we are talking about 1,127 suspects, 809 accused, and 242 convicted persons. Moreover, 30 suspects are prisoners of war, 27 of whom have already been charged. Accordingly, the indictments against them have been sent to court, and 22 of them have been convicted," Semkiv said.
Data from the Prosecutor General’s Office shows that the most frequent crimes involve shelling and strikes that result in civilian deaths. Investigators have observed a shift in the methods used to carry out these attacks as technology changes.

“Now it is, of course, strikes carried out primarily by drones—FPV drones in the first place. Everything near the front line, in areas where these drones can ‘reach,’ is at risk. Very often, civilians fall under such strikes. If at the beginning of the war there were fewer such means and fewer recorded incidents, their number is now increasing every year,” Semkiv said.
“We are now talking about thousands of different kinds of strikes carried out by FPV drones in violation of international humanitarian law. Information about such incidents is received literally every day,” he clarified.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office had documented more than 212,947 war crimes committed by Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion. The report highlighted a sharp acceleration of violence against civilians throughout 2025, driven by the systematic use of drone and missile strikes.
Russian forces killed over 15,000 civilians and injured tens of thousands more, with many victims subjected to torture or sexual violence.
Additionally, the invasion led to the deaths of hundreds of children and the forced deportation of nearly 20,000 minors to Russia, leading to international arrest warrants for Russian leadership.
