The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense (HUR) has published information about seven individuals complicit in the militarization of Ukrainian children in Russian-occupied territories.

According to information released by HUR on August 25, the “Child Kidnappers” section of the War&Sanctions portal now contains data on seven individuals and three organizations directly involved in militarizing Ukrainian children and facilitating their illegal transfer into the custody of Russian families.

Russia continues to commit cultural genocide as part of its broader war of aggression, Ukrainian intelligence reported. Occupation authorities are conducting systematic efforts to forcibly integrate children from temporarily occupied territories into Russian society, subjecting them to military-patriotic and ideological indoctrination.

“By destroying their national identity and imposing a distorted reality, Russia seeks to legitimize the occupation in the eyes of future generations and expects that in a few years these children will become part of the mobilization resource for the Kremlin’s future wars,” the HUR stressed.

The individuals named include the leadership of the sports clubs Syla Donbasu and Spartak; the heads of the Russian military-patriotic movement Yunarmiya; officials of the Russian government; and the head of a project promoting the adoption of Ukrainian children.

HUR emphasized that the information was collected during the War&Sanctions hackathon held in May, which brought together experts to uncover those complicit in crimes against Ukrainian children.

Earlier, it was reported that nearly 44% of Ukrainian children are showing signs of potential post-traumatic stress disorde as a result of Russia’s war, according to First Lady Olena Zelenska.
