Russia Launches Large-Scale Missile and Drone Attack Across Ukraine, Killing at Least Four

Odesa and the surrounding region were the primary target of the attack, the Ukrainian Air Force reported. At least 17 people were injured in Odesa, including a five-month-old baby, after a Russian strike significantly damaged a multi-story residential building, according to Odesa City Military Administration head Serhii Lysak.

Emergency and municipal crews were deployed to the damaged building, while an operational headquarters was established to assist residents.

In Kryvyi Rih, a Russian ballistic missile struck an industrial facility, killing one person and injuring two others, according to Dnipropetrovsk regional authorities. Another man was reported missing. The two injured men, aged 54 and 58, were hospitalized, with one reported in serious condition and the other in moderate condition.

Five apartment buildings, a primary healthcare center, three educational facilities, and several businesses were also damaged in Kryvyi Rih. The city was later targeted by attack drones.

Russia also struck a residential area of Zaporizhzhia with a drone, destroying at least one house and starting fires, regional defense officials reported. Rescue workers recovered the bodies of a 64-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man from the rubble. A 59-year-old woman was injured.

Authorities in the Kyiv region reported further damage from Russian attacks involving jet-powered drones. One person was killed and three others, including a child, were injured over the previous 24 hours.

Damage was recorded in the Brovary, Obukhiv, Bucha, Boryspil, and Vyshhorod districts. At least 15 sites were affected, including seven private homes, vehicles, warehouses, hangars, and a power line.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force on September 12, Russia began the overnight attack at around 6 p.m. the previous evening and used ballistic missiles, eight sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles, six Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles, and 129 drones.

The drones included Shahed-type attack UAVs, S8000 Banderol drones, and decoys. They were launched from areas around Kursk and Oryol in Russia, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk region and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Russian ballistic missiles were launched from Russia’s Voronezh and Rostov regions and from temporarily occupied Crimea, while the Kalibr missiles were fired from the Black Sea.

As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or suppressed 110 aerial targets, including six Kalibr cruise missiles, two Kh-59/69 missiles, one S8000 Banderol drone, and 101 Shahed-type and other drones, the Air Force said.

Russian missiles and attack drones were recorded hitting 20 locations across Ukraine, while debris from intercepted targets fell at four additional sites.

Ukraine used combat aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups to repel the attack. The Air Force said Russian drones remained in Ukrainian airspace after the initial interception figures were released.

Earlier, on September 11, Russian drones struck gas stations in Kyiv’s Obolonskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, injuring at least two people. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also reported a second strike on a gas station in the Obolonskyi district.
