Ukraine Receives €4.2 Billion from EU to Fund Humanitarian Programs Through Ukraine Facility
Ukraine has received €4.2 billion from the European Union through the Ukraine Facility program, aimed at supporting social programs, humanitarian efforts, and other critical budgetary needs.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who also highlighted the ongoing EU financial support, with over €12 billion provided since the start of the year.
“Since the start of the year, the EU has provided Ukraine with over €12 billion in budget support. We are committed to implementing reforms critical for our stability, growth, and future. Our European partners stand behind these efforts, and we anticipate receiving another tranche of aid before the year ends,” Shmyhal added.
Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine remains committed to implementing reforms crucial for the country’s stability, development, and future. Another tranche of aid is expected by the end of the year.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen commented on the latest tranche, reaffirming that “Europe is firmly on its side.” Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the EU has provided Ukraine with a total of €114 billion in aid.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has allocated all of its state budget revenues to defense, which accounts for approximately half of the budget. All civilian expenditures are being financed through foreign assistance, with the need for external funding in 2024 estimated at $38 billion.
