The Ukrainian authorities also expressed gratitude for the support provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“Special thanks were given to the personnel of the Central Office of the Military Medical Department of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the Joint Center for the Coordination of Repatriation Operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the statement read.
These units are responsible for transporting the repatriated bodies to designated state-specialized facilities and organizing the transfer to law enforcement and forensic medical agencies under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Health, the Headquarters reported.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service officially informed a Russian individual, known by the alias “Doctor Evil,” that he is under investigation for war crimes committed against Ukrainian prisoners.
The individual, Illya Sorokin, worked as a paramedic in the medical unit at Penal Colony No. 10 in Russia’s Mordovia region. According to investigators, Sorokin mistreated injured Ukrainian soldiers held in the facility.
