Ukraine has officially presented its 2S22 Bohdana 155mm self-propelled howitzer at the MSPO 2025 defense exhibition in Kielce, Poland, highlighting the system’s transition from frontline necessity to serial NATO-standard production.

According to Army Recognition on September 2, the Bohdana was displayed as part of Ukraine’s effort to demonstrate both its battlefield-tested artillery and its growing industrial capacity to supply NATO-compatible systems.

The exhibition in Kielce, one of Central Europe’s most prominent defense shows, provided a platform for Ukraine to position itself as a credible defense exporter.

The Bohdana is a truck-mounted 155mm/52-caliber howitzer built on an 8×8 chassis. It can fire the full range of NATO-standard ammunition, including extended-range and precision-guided rounds, with a maximum range of over 41 kilometers.

The system has a five-person crew, carries 20 rounds onboard, and features a fully armored cabin with integrated fire control for rapid deployment and protection under counter-battery fire. Its shoot-and-scoot capability is designed to reduce vulnerability after firing.

During its operational use, the Bohdana was employed in long-range precision missions against Russian forces, including the strike on Snake Island in 2022. Its combat record has shaped the current production model, which is entirely manufactured in Ukraine.

The platform’s barrel is rated for up to 9,000 rounds, and production has scaled to as many as 30 units per month, ensuring supply for domestic forces and potential foreign customers.

The system reflects Ukraine’s defense industrial resilience. says Army Recognition. By developing a fully NATO-standard artillery piece under wartime conditions, Ukraine has created an alternative to traditional Western manufacturers. The absence of political restrictions often associated with US or EU arms exports adds to its potential appeal in global markets.

The presence of the Bohdana at MSPO 2025 underscores Ukraine’s wider strategy of turning battlefield innovation into export-ready systems. Army Recognition also notes that alongside NATO support, Kyiv aims to leverage its combat experience to expand its role in the global defense industry.

Earlier, on July 2, Ukraine registered an international patent for the Bohdana 6.0 artillery system. The new variant, developed by the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant, introduces a modular design adaptable to multiple wheeled platforms and includes a semi-automatic rammer.
