Ukraine to Evacuate More Than 3,000 Children from Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk Regions

Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for Evacuation has ordered the mandatory evacuation of more than 3,000 children along with their parents from frontline settlements in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions due to the deteriorating security situation.
The decision was announced on January 2, by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
“In the Zaporizhzhia region, this concerns the evacuation of 651 children from four settlements in two communities. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, 2,463 children are being evacuated from 40 settlements across five communities,” Kuleba said.

The Coordination Headquarters also reviewed the situation in the Chernihiv region, where mandatory evacuation was announced on December 30 in 14 settlements. Evacuation has already been completed in three of them, while it remains ongoing in the remaining eleven.
Kuleba stressed the importance of coordination among regions receiving evacuees.
“It is important that the regions hosting evacuated families coordinate their actions and ensure proper living conditions,” he said.
Since June 1, around 150,000 people have been evacuated from frontline areas to safer regions of Ukraine, including nearly 18,000 children and more than 5,000 people with limited mobility.
To support evacuees, 17 transit centers are operating nationwide, providing humanitarian, medical, psychological, legal, and social assistance. Authorities have also prepared more than 80,000 temporary accommodation places for internally displaced persons.
