“They want to arm the infantry with this. The state plans to hold a tender procurement, and we want to present our product,” said Vitalii Yermakov.

Drones are now the primary weapon in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. They define the modern battlefield, making drone defense a top priority for every soldier. Because of this, finding effective ways to counter unmanned aerial vehicles has become a high priority for military units.

The Ptashka net gun was created in Ukraine as a launch device to help soldiers protect themselves from drones.

This manual net gun does not require complex logistics or a power source. It is lightweight and can be carried and deployed quickly. The device has a firing range of 25 to 30 meters. When the net is released, it entangles the propellers of the drone.

This method allows for a fast response to enemy drones in close range. It neutralizes the threat without using explosives, which reduces the risk of secondary damage. The system is mobile and easy to use without extensive training.

“There is only a small explosion from the shot of a special blank cartridge,” the company explained.

Estonia is rapidly strengthening its defensive capabilities, focusing on modernizing its military and procurement processes to counter evolving Russian threats.

By analyzing the tactics witnessed during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the country is prioritizing the integration of agile technology to stay ahead of the curve on the modern battlefield.

Central to this strategy is the adoption of proven Ukrainian innovations, such as the Ptashka net gun. This system, which features a built-in radar to detect enemy drones and automatically launch interceptor nets, offers a practical solution to the persistent aerial threats seen in the current war.

By incorporating these tools, Estonia aims to provide its infantry with simple yet highly effective means to neutralize the drones that now dominate frontline operations.

Earlier, the “RADAROM!” nationwide charity campaign in Lithuania completed its latest phase by delivering drones and military equipment worth nearly $6.9 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The transfer included $4.4 million for drones from Lithuanian manufacturers and $2.2 million for Ukrainian-made systems.

This initiative, which successfully connected the defense industry with frontline needs, provided essential gear such as FPV drones, communication support systems, and “Vampire” drone systems to protect the lives of soldiers during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
