Lithuania Considers Opening Airspace and Bases for US Operations Against Iran

Lithuania is prepared to offer infrastructure and strategic support to the United States for its military operations against Iran.
Raimundas Vaikšnoras, the Chief of the General Staff of Lithuania, stated that the country could provide assistance to Washington as part of the ongoing mission, according to European Pravda on March 6.
We bring you stories from the ground. Your support keeps our team in the field.
"I would say that this is a timely decision, before [this threat] strengthened and began to dominate the Middle East. It had to be suppressed to make the world safer," the Lithuanian military chief said.
Vaikšnoras noted that Lithuania's contribution could extend beyond direct military involvement to include diplomatic, economic, and informational measures. He specifically mentioned the possibility of opening Lithuanian territory for American aircraft.
"I think [assistance] can be not only military measures. It can be diplomatic, economic, informational [measures], depending on the need. It could be support, it could be the provision of our territory for bombers and fighters, because some countries have refused, and we know exactly which ones. I would say this is a matter of high diplomacy and the decisions of the government and leaders. The army would support this if it were a political decision of Lithuania," he said.

The Chief of Staff warned that growing focus on the Middle East could shift Western attention away from Ukraine. He stressed that partners must continue supplying air defense systems to counter Russia’s full-scale invasion.
He emphasized that international partners should continue providing air defense systems to Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier, Asta Skaisgirytė, the chief foreign policy adviser to the Lithuanian President, confirmed that Lithuania would consider assisting the United States in military operations against Iran if a request were made.
She expressed support for the preventive strikes carried out by the US and Israel, noting that Tehran had failed to stop enriching uranium and producing nuclear weapons.
Skaisgirytė described the military actions as an unavoidable matter and stated that Lithuania would assess any potential involvement alongside its NATO allies.
