At the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting on November 20, Ukraine will emphasize Russia’s recent missile attack on a high-rise building in Ternopil.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Anndrii Sybiha stated on November 19 that the attack, which killed at least 25 people, including two children, would be brought to the forefront of the discussions.

“Ukraine will bring Russia’s horrific murder of at least 21 people, including 2 children, in Ternopil to the spotlight of tomorrow’s UN Security Council meeting,” Sybiha said.

He also called for international condemnation and a strong response to the attack.

“We have already addressed all of our partners and international organizations, informing about the consequences of the strike. Against the backdrop of such brutality, we reiterate our call for the provision of additional air defense and other equipment to protect our people.,” he added.

Sybiha further directed all Ukrainian embassies to lower their flags and open books of mourning in remembrance of the victims.

Earlier, a wave of Russian missile strikes hit western Ukraine overnight, causing severe destruction in Ternopil, where part of a high-rise building collapsed. Simultaneous attacks on Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kharkiv stretched emergency responders thin as they rushed to assist those affected by the bombings.

The State Emergency Service reported that the death toll has now risen to 25, with 73 others injured, including 15 children. Rescue operations continue as authorities work to uncover survivors amid the rubble.
