Ukraine to Strengthen Established Brigades Instead of Creating New Ones

Ukraine has adjusted its military strategy, shifting from forming new brigades to reinforcing existing ones, according to Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Pavlo Palisa on February 11.
Palisa announced that the State Council made the decision to prioritize integrating new personnel into battle-tested units rather than assembling fresh formations from scratch.
Previously, Ukraine followed a model of creating new brigades, but due to resource constraints, it has opted for a more sustainable approach.
Now, recruits will be trained and deployed to established brigades where experienced commanders, cohesive teams, and defined areas of responsibility are already in place.
This shift aims to enhance combat effectiveness by placing new soldiers in structured environments with proven leadership rather than in hastily assembled units.
Earlier, on February 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the “Drone Line” initiative, marking a new phase in integrating unmanned aerial systems into Ukraine’s defense strategy.
The project aims to enhance existing drone units, expand capabilities, and standardize combat experience across the armed forces.
