Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office and leader of Ukraine’s delegation in peace talks, shared how, during negotiations with the United States in Saudi Arabia, he outlined Ukraine’s red lines—issues that the country will never agree to cross.

Yermak reiterated that Ukraine supports the US proposal for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.

“As one of the first steps towards peace, we proposed a prisoner exchange, the release of civilians, and the return of deported children,” Yermak wrote on his official Telegram channel.

At the same time, the Head of the President’s Office emphasized that it is crucial for any initiatives to be based on expert assessments. Specifically, the issue of monitoring the ceasefire requires clear mechanisms and professional expertise.

“I also emphasized our ‘red lines.’ Ukraine will not discuss a neutral status or a reduction in the size of its Armed Forces. We will never recognize any temporarily occupied territories as part of Russia,” he noted.

On March 17, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated in an interview that Russia has yet to officially respond to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and when it does, the response must come without additional conditions.

US President Donald Trump and Putin are expected to have a phone call on March 18, where they’d discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine and the status of occupied territories, as well as the future of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
