The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Ukrainian Army is achieving new results in the Kursk region, replenishing the exchange fund.

“We are achieving new results in the Kursk region, and we have replenished the exchange fund,“ Syrskyi wrote.

He noted that heavy combat is ongoing in the Pokrovsk direction of the Donetsk region.

“Heavy fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction. Defense forces are also doing everything necessary to protect Toretsk,” Syrskyi added.

Ukraine officially announced carrying out an operation in the Kursk region on August 12. The latest reports from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi indicate that Ukraine is now in control of 82 settlements, covering around 1,150 km² of Russian territory.

On August 14, a video emerged of more than a hundred Russian soldiers, who made the decision to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. Following that, on August 16, Kyrylo Budanov, Head of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, outlined the guiding principles for negotiations on the release of prisoners.
