Ukrainian Drone Startup Debuts Long-Range UAV Capable of Striking Deep Behind Enemy Lines

A startup from Dnipro, known for developing the “Chaklun” drone, has unveiled its own long-range unmanned aerial vehicle.
The new drone was presented to journalists from Deutsche Welle. Since 2022, the company has been working on a long-range UAV capable of conducting reconnaissance missions or delivering payloads to distant targets.
What started as a small team has grown into a workforce of 170, significantly accelerating the development of new drone models. “Many highly qualified specialists were mobilized, so we’ve had to retrain others,” the company noted.
Due to the limited domestic production of key components, many parts for the drones are sourced from abroad. As a result, the team equipped their latest model with a DLE 111 two-cylinder gasoline engine, typically used in large-scale radio-controlled aircraft.

This engine delivers around 11 horsepower at 7,500 RPM, allowing the drone to carry heavy payloads and cover long distances without sacrificing speed.
Developing long-range drones like this helps reduce Ukraine’s reliance on other models such as the Deep Strike and encourages competition, which drives quality, Ukrainian military outlet Militarnyi noted.
Currently, Ukraine’s special services actively deploy drones like “Liutyi,” “Bober,” and others to strike deep into Russian territory.
Previously on July 16, 2025, Ukraine’s OCTAVA Defence presented its FLYCAT ground-target engagement system during LANDEURO 2025 in Wiesbaden, Germany.
