Ukrainian Drone Unit Destroys $45 Million Russian Buk-M3 Air Defense System, Video

Ukrainian drone operators have destroyed a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system along with its ammunition, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported on June 8.
According to the military, the strike was carried out by operators from the 14th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Aerial Systems.
The unit identified the target, disabled it, and maintained visual confirmation before delivering a final strike that triggered the detonation of the missile stockpile and resulted in the system’s complete destruction.
Video footage published by the General Staff documents the operation and highlights the coordination of drone units during the mission.
What Is the Buk-M3?
The Buk-M3 is a modern Russian medium-range air defense system capable of intercepting aerial targets at distances of up to 70 kilometers. It is designed to engage aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones, and can also target threats on the ground or at sea.

According to open-source estimates, each Buk-M3 unit is valued at approximately $45 million. Ukrainian military officials emphasize that neutralizing such high-value systems inflicts significant financial losses on Russian forces and helps clear Ukrainian airspace for further operations.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces had destroyed three Russian Iskander missile launchers used in attacks on Ukrainian cities. He said the strikes, part of a broader campaign targeting Russian military infrastructure, were intended to weaken Russia’s offensive capabilities.
