Long-range drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reportedly struck the Bashneft oil refinery in Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan region, early on October 11, according to Ukrainian media citing sources within the agency.

Sources told Ukrinform that drones from the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center targeted the Bashneft-UNPZ refinery, located roughly 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Following the strike, thick black smoke was seen rising over the facility, and emergency crews were deployed to contain the fire.

“This is already the third deep strike by the SBU in Bashkortostan over the past month—1,400 kilometers from Ukraine,” a source in the SBU told Ukrinform.

“Such operations show that there are no safe zones deep inside Russia. The SBU can reach any facility contributing to the war effort against Ukraine.”

Preliminary reports suggest the fire broke out near the crude oil processing unit known as ELOU-AVT-6. Local Telegram channels reported temporary disruptions at Ufa’s airport following the drone attack.

Ufa serves as one of Russia’s largest oil refining hubs, supplying fuel and lubricants for the country’s military forces.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces struck two major energy facilities in Russia’s Volgograd region—the Korobkovsky Gas Processing Plant owned by Lukoil and the Yefimovka oil pumping station operated by Transneft-Privolga. Both sites, located over 500 km from Ukraine, were set ablaze following drone attacks, disrupting critical infrastructure tied to Russia’s domestic fuel supply and Black Sea oil exports.
