Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has strongly condemned public greetings extended to Russia by certain foreign governments on the occasion of Russia Day.
The statement was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Telegram on June 12.
“There can be no reward for aggression. There can be no reward for an aggressor state,” Sybiha emphasized.
According to European Pravda on June 12, speaking ahead of the “Weimar Plus” meeting in Rome, the minister noted that he was “disturbed” by official messages congratulating Russia, without naming specific countries.

However, it is known that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a public statement marking Russia Day, in which he reaffirmed US support for the Russian people and expressed hope for “constructive engagement” with the Russian Federation to achieve lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“The United States remains committed to supporting the Russian people as they continue to build on their aspirations for a brighter future,” the statement read. “We also take this opportunity to reaffirm the United States’ desire for constructive engagement with the Russian Federation to bring about a durable peace between Russia and Ukraine. It is our hope that peace will foster more mutually beneficial relations between our countries..”
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has reiterated that international recognition or normalization of relations with Russia amid its ongoing full-scale aggression undermines the principles of international law and accountability.
Earlier, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar partisans from the Atesh movement carried out a sabotage operation near the temporarily occupied city of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia region, setting fire to a Russian military “Ural” truck.
According to a statement published on the group’s Telegram channel on June 12, the attack was deliberately timed to coincide with Russia Day, serving as a symbolic message to the occupying forces.
