The Grad systems were taken out using FPV drones that were flown directly into the launchers while they were still loaded with rockets. The impact caused a powerful explosion followed by intense fire, completely destroying both systems.
As reported by Militarnyi, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Grad MLRS units have been among the most heavily used rocket artillery systems along the front line, resulting in substantial losses.
Analysts from the Oryx group estimate that more than 312 Grad systems have been destroyed or damaged since the invasion, the highest loss rate among all multiple-launch rocket systems, according to Militarnyi.
In a separate incident, Ukraine’s 79th Separate Air Assault Tavrian Brigade reported destroying a Russian BM-21 Grad multiple-launch rocket system near the village of Malynivka, east of Myrnohrad.

In a statement released on December 22 alongside video footage, the brigade said the launcher was fully loaded with rockets and preparing to strike Ukrainian positions. The unit added that timely reconnaissance enabled Ukrainian forces to locate the Grad system and neutralize it before it could open fire.
Earlier, a ground combat drone operated by Ukraine’s Third Assault Brigade maintained control of a frontline position for 45 straight days without infantry support,
The unit reported that the unmanned ground vehicle was sent into a contested area on a daily basis, using machine-gun fire to repel repeated Russian efforts to push forward.
