Ukrainian Leopard 2A4 Tank Decimates Russian Positions Near Kurakhove, Video

A Leopard 2A4 tank from the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a strike on Russian positions in the Donetsk region. The unit shared video footage of the operation on its official Telegram channel.

The footage shows the Leopard 2A4 maneuvering into position and firing directly at enemy fortifications. Its advanced mobility allowed the tank to quickly reach its firing point and effectively maneuver, leveraging its forward and reverse speed capabilities.

Unlike Soviet-era tanks, which typically display slower operational movement, particularly in reverse, the Leopard 2 is equipped with a 1,500-horsepower engine and an automatic transmission. This enables it to achieve speeds of 40-50 km/h on uneven terrain and up to 30 km/h in reverse.

To target Russian fortifications, Ukrainian forces utilize American Mk 324 Mod 0 MP-HE-T and German DM11 shells, both of which are designed for high-explosive fragmentation and feature advanced proximity fuzes. These shells offer a modern alternative to conventional high-explosive ammunition.

Earlier this month, Russian forces launched an assault near Dalnje, south of Kurakhove, aiming to encircle Pokrovsk. The 33rd Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine, armed with Leopard 2A4 tanks, thwarted the attack.

The brigade’s tanks disabled two Russian tanks, an armored personnel carrier, and several other vehicles. Aerial footage captured by Ukrainian drones showcased the effective response.
