Ukrainian-Made “Varan” Buggies Authorized for Battlefield Use
The Ministry of Defense approved the supply of Ukrainian-made "Varan" buggies, which will be used to move personnel, evacuate the injured, and transport ammunition.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The "Varan" buggies were designed and manufactured at a Ukrainian enterprise.
At its core, this buggy features a robust power frame designed for tough operating conditions. It’s equipped with a powerful turbodiesel engine and a smooth-shifting 5-speed automatic gearbox.
The two-seater buggy weighs a little more than a ton and can carry 500 kg (1100 lbs) of cargo or tow a trailer weighing up to 300 kg (660 lbs). The capacity of the tank is enough for 200 km (124 miles) of difficult off-road. On the sand, "Varan" develops a speed of more than 100 km/h (62 miles/h).
As Ukraine’s army needs increased amid Russia’s ongoing invasion, the EU adopted a new approach by starting to invest in Ukraine's military industry.
On September 14, Denmark announced that it funded the production of 18 Bohdanas, which have already been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This marked the first time an EU country used funds specifically for purchasing military equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers.
