The B-52H Stratofortress is a long-range, subsonic strategic bomber developed by Boeing and introduced into service in the 1950s. It remains a key component of the U.S. Air Force’s strategic bomber fleet, capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear payloads over intercontinental distances.
The flight comes amid ongoing NATO air patrol missions in the Baltic region, which aim to enhance collective defense and deter potential threats.

Earlier, NATO announced the deployment of up to ten naval vessels in the Baltic Sea to safeguard critical underwater infrastructure, including energy and communication cables. The operation, set to begin this week and continue until April, follows concerns over recent damage to undersea cables in the region.
The initiative, supported by NATO’s Joint Expeditionary Force, comes after Finland and Estonia suspected a Russian-linked tanker of damaging the Estlink 2 power cable and other telecommunications lines.
Additionally, the United States deployed two B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers to Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base in Romania, near the Ukrainian border, as part of a NATO integration mission.
According to the U.S. Air Force in Europe, the aircraft conducted training flights over the Finland-Russia border before their arrival. The deployment is part of routine Bomber Task Force operations aimed at enhancing coordination with NATO allies and demonstrating the Alliance’s deterrence capabilities.
