US Delays Patriot Missile Delivery to Switzerland to Prioritize Ukraine

The US Department of Defense has notified Switzerland that deliveries of Patriot air defense systems will be delayed—because Ukraine comes first.
This was reported by the press service of Switzerland’s Ministry of Defense on July 17.
The Swiss government has confirmed that the delay is due to a shift in Washington’s priorities. Switzerland ordered five Patriot systems from the United States back in 2022, with initial deliveries expected in 2027 and final handover in 2028.
The Pentagon stated that Switzerland is among the countries that “will be affected by the new prioritization.”
“It is currently unclear how many systems this will affect or whether it will also impact the delivery of guided missiles. At this time, no statements can be made regarding exact timelines or further consequences for Switzerland. The matter is still being clarified,” the Swiss Defense Ministry said.

Just days earlier, US President Donald Trump said that shipments of Patriot missiles to Ukraine are already in progress, with the costs covered by NATO allies and the European Union. He made the statement during a July 15 press briefing at Andrews Air Force Base when asked about the missile deliveries.
“They’re already being shipped,” he said.
Trump added that the interceptors are being sent from Germany and will be replenished by Berlin. “They’re coming in from Germany and then replaced by Germany. And in all cases, the United States gets paid back in full,” he emphasized.
Previously, Donald Trump confirmed that Ukraine will receive new Patriot air defense systems from the United States as part of a delivery of 17 Patriot systems funded by European NATO members.
