US Greenlights $780M Javelin Missile Deal to Power Up Poland’s NATO Firepower

The US State Department has given approval for a potential Foreign Military Sale to Poland of missile systems and related support, with an estimated value of $780 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) officially notified Congress of the planned sale on September 18, according to UK Defense Journal on September 30.
Under the request, Poland seeks to acquire 2,506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles along with 253 Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units. The comprehensive package also includes simulation rounds, battery coolant units, tool kits, spare parts, training programs, technical assistance, and transportation services.
In its statement, the DSCA emphasized that “this proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe.”

The agency noted that this step would reinforce Poland’s capacity to defend its territory and strengthen its role in NATO operations. At the same time, the sale “will not alter the basic military balance in the region.”
According to the UK Defense Journal, RTX Corporation of Arlington, Virginia, and Lockheed Martin of Tucson, Arizona, have been designated as the primary contractors for the deal. No offset arrangements have been outlined so far, with any potential agreements to be negotiated directly between Poland and industry partners.
The DSCA also added that implementation of the sale would not require the deployment of additional US personnel.
Earlier, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Warsaw will create a national center to incorporate Ukraine’s battlefield experience, as well as a new unit within NATO’s Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre in Bydgoszcz.
