Russian Attacks Damage 2,687 Medical Sites Across Ukraine, Including 340 Completely Destroyed

Russian attacks have damaged or destroyed nearly 2,700 medical infrastructure sites across Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s Ministry of Health reported on September 7.
As of September 1, 2026, authorities had confirmed damage or destruction at 2,687 sites belonging to 854 healthcare facilities, according to data collected from regional military administrations and the Kyiv City Military Administration.

The largest number of damaged and destroyed medical facilities has been recorded in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions.
Despite continued Russian attacks and security risks, reconstruction of Ukraine’s medical infrastructure is ongoing. The ministry said 752 sites have been fully restored, while another 317 have been partially rebuilt. However, 87 sites that had previously been fully restored were subsequently damaged again.
“Medical facilities continue to operate even under difficult conditions. Currently, 1,639 sites remain operational, another 187 are functioning partially, and 241 have been evacuated to other locations,” the ministry said.
The full extent of the damage remains unknown, as authorities are unable to comprehensively verify information from the temporarily occupied territories.
Russia’s attacks have also caused significant losses to Ukraine’s emergency medical fleet. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 345 ambulances have been destroyed, another 225 damaged, and 80 seized by Russian forces, according to the ministry.
Medical facilities relocated from occupied territories have also remained vulnerable to Russian strikes. On July 2, the Regional Intensive Care Hospital, which had been evacuated from Mariupol and relocated to Kyiv, was damaged during an overnight Russian missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital.
