One of the bombs struck near medical facilities in an area with heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic, while the remaining strikes reportedly hit infrastructure sites across the Sumy community.
According to Hryhorov, Russian aircraft dropped six guided aerial bombs on the city during the morning attack.

“One of the KABs struck near medical facilities—in an area with heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The remaining strikes, preliminarily, hit infrastructure facilities,” Hryhorov said in a statement published on Telegram.
He added that civilians and vehicles were caught within the blast zone of one of the strikes. Authorities initially reported three fatalities and seven injured. Later on July 15, Hryhorov said the number of wounded had risen to 17, including a 16-year-old boy.

According to the regional administration, two of the victims have been identified as a man and a woman, while a third person who sustained critical injuries has not yet been identified. Officials said the teenager and two other seriously wounded patients were undergoing surgery, while the remaining injured were receiving medical treatment.
Ukraine’s National Police said the attack damaged a critical infrastructure facility, a medical institution, and seven passenger vehicles. Investigators, bomb disposal specialists, and forensic teams are working at the scene to document evidence of what Ukrainian authorities describe as a Russian war crime.

The strike came less than a day after Russian forces attacked Sumy with drones targeting two gas stations, injuring a 63-year-old minibus driver. On July 14, another Russian strike on a residential area of the city wounded seven people, including an 11-year-old child.
Earlier, on July 11, Russia launched a separate guided bomb attack on Sumy that killed five civilians and injured 43 others. Among those killed was a 13-year-old girl who died at a public transport stop alongside three adult men and a minibus driver.
