A hospital evacuated from the besieged city of Mariupol was damaged during Russia’s overnight missile and drone attack on Kyiv, according to Donetsk Regional Military Administration head Vadym Filashkin.
The Regional Intensive Care Hospital had been relocated to Kyiv after being forced to leave Mariupol during Russia’s full-scale invasion.

“This is a medical institution that has already survived the blockade of Mariupol, evacuation, the loss of its home, and relocation,” Filashkin said. “Its doctors endured the darkest days of the full-scale war but never stopped. They continued working, saving lives, and restoring medical care for residents of the Donetsk region from their new location in Kyiv.”
According to Filashkin, the hospital's outpatient clinic sustained the most extensive damage, while the operating room suffered only minor damage. Specialists will inspect the medical equipment to determine whether it remains operational.

The regional governor thanked medical personnel and emergency services who began working at the site immediately after the attack to deal with its aftermath.
“Russia is not only waging war against the military. It is striking hospitals, schools, homes—everything that sustains normal civilian life. But we will rebuild everything. And our doctors will continue doing their work,” Filashkin said.

Overnight on July 2, Russia carried out one of its largest combined attacks on Kyiv, firing ballistic missiles alongside hundreds of strike drones that caused extensive destruction across the capital.
Ukrainian officials reported that the assault killed 21 people and injured 90 others. Damage was recorded at 28 locations citywide, with residential buildings and civilian infrastructure bearing the brunt of the attack.
The Darnytskyi district suffered some of the most severe destruction after a direct strike ripped through the first six floors of a nine-storey apartment building. Heavy damage was also reported in the Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts.
During Russia’s overnight missile and drone attack on the capital, Kyiv’s metro stations sheltered more than 52,000 people, the Kyiv Metro press service reported, marking the highest number recorded since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
According to the operator, 52,500 residents used the underground stations as bomb shelters throughout the night, including nearly 4,500 children.
The metro service described the figure as the highest recorded in recent years.
In general, Russia deployed 570 aerial attack weapons during the overnight strike, including 74 missiles and 496 drones of various types, with the capital remaining the main focus of the assault, the Ukrainian Air Force said
Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or neutralized through electronic warfare 476 of the drones, resulting in an interception rate of almost 96%.
