US Tech Company Eleview International Faces Legal Action Over Sanction Violations and Technology Exports to Russia
The US Department of Justice has filed charges against Eleview International Inc. and its two executives, accusing them of illegally exporting American technology worth millions of dollars to Russia, bypassing existing sanctions, reported Virginia Office of Public Affairs on November 4.
Eleview’s executives, Oleg Nayandin, 54, and Vitaly Borisenko, 39, appeared before the federal court in Virginia’s Eastern District, facing charges related to violating export control laws.
Eleview International Inc. is a US e-commerce and technology company specializing in online enterprise, custom software development, and other IT spheres.
According to Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matt Olsen, the two executives, whose citizenships were not disclosed, allegedly devised three separate schemes to evade export restrictions imposed on Russia following the February 2022 invasion.
From March 2022 through June 2023, Eleview is accused of redirecting US goods and technologies to Russia via Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Finland.
The Department of Justice noted that:
Through Turkey, the defendants reportedly exported telecommunications equipment worth around $1.48 million.
Using Finland, they are believed to have exported goods valued at approximately $3.45 million, potentially usable in drone manufacturing.
Via Kazakhstan, they allegedly sent dual-use items to Russia, valued at around $1.47 million.
If found guilty, Nayandin and Borisenko face up to 20 years in prison for these export violations.
Earlier, an investigation by the international volunteer intelligence community InformNapalm uncovered how a Kazakh company, Analyst Research Consulting Group (ARC Group), is helping Russia maintain its military aircraft using high-tech French equipment, despite international sanctions.
