Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States is preparing an $800 million aid package to fund drone production in Ukraine.

“Today, there is a new decision from the United States regarding support for Ukraine—a new defense package. The amount is $400 million. Additionally, a separate package is being prepared for funding the production of Ukrainian drones, amounting to $800 million. Ukraine is grateful for this support. We need to ensure that, despite any political threats in the world, Ukraine can consistently defend its sovereignty and independence,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address on October 21.

Previously on October 21, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has announced a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv.

The new aid package includes armored personnel carriers, ammunition, and special equipment.

Earlier this year, Ukraine launched the world’s first military branch dedicated to drone warfare, with a focus on scaling domestic production. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine aims to build 1.5 million drones this year, with plans to increase production to four million annually.
