US, Ukraine, and Russia Conclude Constructive Second Round of Peace Talks in Abu Dhabi

Delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia held a second round of trilateral peace talks in Abu Dhabi on February 4–5, organized by the United Arab Emirates, according to a communiqué published by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov on February 5.
Umerov said the discussions were constructive and focused on creating conditions for a lasting peace and advancing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

The talks resulted in an agreement for a mutual release of 157 prisoners of war from each side, marking the first such exchange in the past five months, Umerov wrote.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War previously reported that it had conducted the first prisoner exchange of 2026. Under the instructions of the President of Ukraine, 150 military personnel and 7 civilians were freed from Russian captivity.
Delegations also held discussions on unresolved issues, including possible mechanisms for implementing a ceasefire and monitoring a halt to hostilities.

The parties agreed to brief their respective capitals and continue trilateral negotiations in the coming weeks, while thanking the UAE for hosting the talks.
“Ukraine is grateful to President Donald Trump for his leadership in promoting efforts to end the war,” Umerov stated.
Earlier, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said he opposed peace talks with Ukraine and favored continuing the war until Russia “takes Ukraine completely.”
