“This year, we will increase our contribution to military and defense assistance by 50% so that Ukraine can continue to defend itself. We will continue to stand on the right side of history.”
Backes emphasized that Ukraine seeks a just and lasting peace, but such a peace remains out of reach due to Russia’s ongoing aggression.
“Putin could have stopped this war yesterday. He could do it today. But he chooses not to,” she stated.
Earlier, Luxembourg allocated an additional €20 million for Ukraine’s defense and energy support, with €10 million directed to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund.
