With War Next Door, Poland Rolls Out “Emergency Readiness Guide” for Every Home

Poland’s Ministry of the Interior and Administration announced plans to distribute a crisis preparedness guide to every household by the end of the year.
Developed in collaboration with Poland’s Ministry of National Defense and the Government Security Center, the brochure was announced on March 10 and will provide instructions on surviving for 72 hours during emergencies such as power outages, natural disasters, and war.
“For three days, all citizens, every household, will be able to survive on their own,” said the deputy director of the Polish Department of Population Protection and Crisis Management, Robert Klonowski.

Klonowski, stated that the guide will be available in multiple languages, including Ukrainian, and will feature a dedicated section for children.
The guide will include information on emergency supplies, first aid, fire prevention, and civil defense signals. Klonowski noted that few citizens are familiar with Poland’s current alarm system, which includes a three-minute modulated siren indicating a threat and a continuous three-minute signal marking its end.
The publication, set for completion in April and distribution in the second half of the year, is modeled on similar brochures from 23 countries, including Sweden and Norway.
In the meantime, an existing Polish government resource, the “Be Ready” guide, is available online, offering instructions on evacuation procedures, power outage preparations, and personal safety measures in the event of foreign military presence or gunfire.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk suggested that Poland may pursue access to nuclear weapons, warning that Europe could face war with Russia in the coming years.
