Zelenskyy and Kazakstan’s Tokayev Discuss Peace Efforts at UNGA 80 in New York

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in New York to take part in events marking the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and held a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
This was reported by the President’s Office on September 23.
Zelenskyy thanked Kazakhstan for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that the key task today is achieving a just and lasting peace with reliable security guarantees.
He reiterated that Ukraine is ready for talks at the level of leaders, calling this format the most effective. At the same time, Russia continues to put forward unacceptable conditions in an attempt to block genuine negotiations.

According to the statment, the two leaders discussed the efforts of Ukraine, the United States, Europe, and other partners to end the war and stop the killings. Tokayev assured Zelenskyy of Kazakhstan’s full support and emphasized the importance of reaching peace as soon as possible.
The talks also focused on strengthening bilateral relations, including trade and economic cooperation. Special attention was given to Kazakhstan’s interest in taking part in Ukraine’s recovery, particularly in rebuilding social, residential, and energy infrastructure.
Earlier, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, cautioned that Russia’s repeated violations of NATO airspace are aimed at eroding Europe’s security architecture.
