Zelenskyy Announces Talks With European Partners on Joint Air Defense System

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine will hold negotiations with European partners this week, from April 13 to April 19, regarding the creation of a joint air defense system.
During his address on Ukrainian Armorers’ Day, he emphasized that the country is changing how it approaches military cooperation compared to previous decades.
We bring you stories from the ground. Your support keeps our team in the field.
The President presented various examples of Ukrainian-made weaponry, including drones and missiles such as the "Flamingo ." He stated that Ukraine is now a leader in security technology and that its military expertise is highly valued internationally. He noted that Ukrainian interceptor drones are already being utilized in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region.
Zelenskyy explained that long-term security agreements in the Middle East provide Ukraine with annual funding and necessary fuel during times of global instability. These partnerships also help Ukraine acquire specific types of weapons that are currently in short supply but available through its partners.
He mentioned ongoing communication with countries including Kuwait, Oman, Türkiye, and Syria, noting interest from nations across Asia and Africa.
The President stressed that current arms cooperation is different from the approach taken in the 1990s or 2000s. He said, "But we are building new cooperation with partners regarding weapons not like in the nineties or two thousands, when Ukrainian weapons and strength were sold off like on Black Friday."

He added that Ukraine is not holding a sale or emptying its warehouses, but is instead offering long-term and profitable security partnerships.
Regarding the upcoming talks on a joint European sky defense system, Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of integration for regional stability.
He stated, "I am confident: either Ukraine will become an integral part of the European security system, or some in Europe risk becoming part of the 'Russian world'."
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained that Ukraine’s goal was to establish comprehensive defense partnerships that went beyond simply supplying interceptor drones.
He emphasized that Kyiv was prepared to share its unique combat expertise through joint production and training programs. Zelenskyy noted that these agreements involved 10-year contracts worth billions of dollars, which aimed to help Ukrainian manufacturers enter new markets while securing the necessary funds to purchase weapons for Ukraine’s own defense.
