Zelenskyy Confirms Submission of Ukraine’s Position on US Peace Plan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Friday that Kyiv has submitted a formal response to the US peace proposals put forward by the administration of President Donald Trump, according to Interfax on April 25.
The proposals reportedly center on long-term security assurances for Ukraine as an alternative to NATO membership.
Zelenskyy stated that the response was delivered during a working meeting with US representatives in London on April 23, where European partners were also present.
“We presented our vision regarding the proposals offered by the United States,” Zelenskyy said. “There are constructive ideas in these proposals — including the deployment of contingents and models resembling the protection provided under NATO’s Article 5. Not Article 5 itself, but comparable levels of protection and defense capabilities.”
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is now awaiting feedback from the American side.
In a separate evening address, the President hinted at upcoming high-level meetings that could influence the direction of ongoing diplomatic efforts. He stressed the importance of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, calling for stronger international pressure on Russia.
“In the coming days, significant meetings may take place — ones that can help move us closer to silence in Ukraine. What’s needed is a real, enforceable ceasefire and a credible path to peace with security guarantees,” he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to consider any proposal that can ensure reliable, immediate de-escalation and lay the groundwork for a sustainable peace through diplomacy.
Previously, it was reported that US President Donald Trump may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome later this week, as both leaders are expected to attend the funeral of Pope Francis on April 26.
