Senior members of US President Donald Trump’s team are expected to visit Ukraine this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters on Monday, February 10.
"This week, some key figures from President Trump's team will be in Ukraine ahead of the Munich Security Conference. Then, at the Munich Conference, I will have a series of meetings, including with the US Vice President JD Vance and with President Trump's team. My team will also have separate meetings there, discussions, and work," Zelenskyy said. He added that following these engagements, further discussions and collaboration with US representatives would take place in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of practical cooperation between Ukrainian and US teams, particularly in shaping a shared approach to key security issues, “to focus on the practical work of the Ukrainian and US teams, on a common vision of the main things.” He added, “Of course, there may be different opinions, but a common vision of the main things, how to stop Putin, how to provide security guarantees to Ukraine and Ukrainians… We will work very hard."
Zelenskyy also confirmed ongoing efforts to arrange a direct meeting with President Trump: "Our teams are working on our dialogue, our meeting between me and President Trump. He talked about it. It seems to me that there is no secret in this. The question is when it will be," he stated.
On February 10, Mike Waltz, National Security Advisor to US President Donald Trump, stated that security guarantees for Ukraine would be the responsibility of Europe.
