Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine's ongoing efforts to end the war with Russia, emphasizing that it is Russia's responsibility to agree to a ceasefire and engage in genuine diplomacy to ensure lasting peace, as he wrote in a post on his official Telegram channel on August 7.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine has unwavering support from its international partners, expressing gratitude for this solidarity. He stressed that Russia's war against Ukraine is a war in Europe and against Europe.

“Every decision made to end this war and guarantee security is of concern to all of Europe, not just one country,” he said.

The President underscored the importance of Europe's voice in the peace process, noting that Ukraine is working closely with European leaders to align positions and ensure the continent’s interests are protected.

"We are planning meetings on the continent to discuss these matters further," he added.

In a separate post, Zelenskyy provided an update on the discussions between Ukraine’s security advisors and US special envoy Steve Witkoff, which took place earlier. The meeting, described as long and detailed, involved significant participants from both sides, marking another step toward securing peace.

“We are determined to work productively to stop the killings and ensure a lasting peace,” Zelenskyy remarked.

The President concluded by stating that Ukraine remains committed to pursuing a dignified peace, with the continuation of talks planned for the following day, as there is still much work to be done.

Earlier, it was reported that President Donald Trump intends to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin as soon as next week to push for a ceasefire in Ukraine, according to The New York Times.
