On September 27, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a video address to Ukrainians from the United States, summarizing his recent meetings and discussions with American leaders. According to Zelenskyy, the key elements of Ukraine’s Victory Plan were presented to US officials, with all points thoroughly explained. “We clarified every step, and now our teams will work to implement each decision. Strong positions for Ukraine mean a quicker path to peace,” Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that topics such as long-range capabilities, defense packages, sanctions against Russia, and actions regarding Russian assets were discussed with US partners. Zelenskyy noted that all these issues were placed on the table for consideration. Preparations are also underway for the next Ramstein meeting in Germany, where Ukraine and its partners will further develop the key points of the Plan for Victory. Zelenskyy thanked President Joe Biden for his invitation and ongoing support.

During his stay in Washington, Zelenskyy met with senior US officials, including President Biden and members of Congress. He expressed gratitude for the nearly $8 billion military aid package, highlighting the importance of air defense measures ahead of the winter months. Zelenskyy described the meetings in Congress as productive, with bipartisan support from both chambers.

Zelenskyy’s visit also included talks with both US presidential candidates. After a long conversation with Vice President Kamala Harris, Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump for almost an hour. The discussions underscored the importance of the US maintaining a clear understanding of Ukraine’s position in the war. Zelenskyy reiterated the need to end Russia’s aggression with a just outcome, ensuring that no other aggressor would replicate Russia’s actions.

Additionally, new agreements on reconstruction efforts were reached, involving G7+ countries, the European Union, and over 30 other nations. These agreements mirror Ukraine’s previous security arrangements and are designed to strengthen Ukraine as it continues its path toward NATO membership.

Zelenskyy concluded by reaffirming Ukraine’s commitment to securing a just peace. “We have done everything within our power to strengthen ourselves. Now, alongside our partners, we must ensure the conditions that will bring about a fair peace. Russia must lose this war, and Ukraine must win. This is the foundation of shared security.”
