Ukraine has achieved parity with Russia in drone usage, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that both sides now deploy similar numbers of unmanned systems on the battlefield, in a meeting with journalists on October 28.

He said the General Staff had analyzed drone employment over the past month, showing that Ukraine’s domestic industry had caught up to Russian production levels.

To maintain that balance, Zelenskyy announced a shift to three-year contracts with major drone producers.

“Of 57 key contracts, 26 have already been signed,” the president said, adding that all remaining agreements should be finalized by the end of the year. He pledged to personally oversee progress: “I will control this process at every Staff meeting.”

Zelenskyy added that military leaders also reviewed Russia’s recent long-range strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and Kyiv’s own long-range operations, issuing new directives to improve effectiveness.

Earlier, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed an agreement to co-produce thousands of Octopus-100 interceptor drones under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative.
