Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,440 Troops, 77 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 1,440 troops, 77 artillery systems, and eight armored combat vehicles over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on September 4.

According to the latest Ukrainian military figures, Russia’s total personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,493,790.

Russian forces also lost one tank over the latest reporting period, bringing cumulative losses to 12,325 tanks and 25,272 armored combat vehicles.

Artillery losses climbed to 49,162 systems after another 77 were recorded over the past day. Ukraine also reported three additional Russian multiple-launch rocket systems and four air defense systems lost, bringing their respective totals to 2,088 and 1,604.

Russia’s estimated aviation losses remain unchanged at 441 aircraft and 355 helicopters.

The General Staff also reported 13 unmanned ground systems lost over the past day, raising the cumulative figure in that category to 2,489.

Another 1,890 operational-tactical UAVs were recorded as lost during the latest 24-hour period, bringing Russia’s total to 497,911.

Russia’s other estimated losses stand at 5,070 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 143,642 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,636 pieces of special equipment. Another 492 vehicles and fuel tankers were recorded as lost over the past day.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian forces clashed 240 times across the front during the latest reporting period.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russian forces lost 124,170 personnel on the battlefield during the three summer months of 2026, including more than 42,000 in August.

According to the General Staff, Russian personnel losses amounted to 39,290 in June, increased to 42,860 in July, and reached 42,020 in August.
