Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,510 Troops, 75 Artillery Systems, and 2 Air Defense Systems

Russian forces suffered an estimated 1,510 personnel casualties and lost 75 artillery systems and two air defense systems over the past 24 hours, according to Ukraine’s latest battlefield assessment.

Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 16 that the latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,467,320.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces also lost one tank, seven armored combat vehicles, eight multiple launch rocket systems, 16 unmanned ground vehicles, and 1,920 operational-tactical UAVs during the reporting period.

Ukraine additionally reported the destruction of 476 vehicles and fuel tankers and seven pieces of special equipment.

Russia’s cumulative equipment losses are now estimated at 12,270 tanks, 25,151 armored combat vehicles, 47,007 artillery systems, 2,034 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,570 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,257 unmanned ground vehicles, 463,404 operational-tactical UAVs, 5,007 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 134,851 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,535 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff recorded 212 combat engagements across the front over the past 24 hours. Russian forces carried out 99 airstrikes during the day, dropping 312 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

Russian forces also deployed 11,235 strike drones and conducted 3,122 attacks against Ukrainian settlements and military positions, including 64 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems.

Over the same period, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 12 areas where Russian personnel were concentrated, seven artillery systems, and one UAV command post.

The Pokrovsk direction saw the highest number of Russian assaults, with Ukrainian forces repelling 34 attacks. Another 28 attacks were recorded in the Kostiantynivka direction and 21 in the Sloviansk direction.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian missile and artillery ammunition depot near Solone Ozero in temporarily occupied Crimea in a joint drone operation involving the 422nd Unmanned Systems Regiment and the SBU’s Alpha special operations unit.
