Preliminary reports indicate that an explosive device detonated inside a mailbox in the stairwell of a residential building. The blast killed Lieutenant Colonel Kuzmenko, identified as the commander of a training communications battalion, and injured several others. Omurbekov’s condition remains unknown.

The incident is reportedly being concealed by Russian authorities, according to the source.

InformNapalm noted that Omurbekov was identified as early as April 2022 and subsequently placed under sanctions by multiple countries. Russian leader Vladimir Putin later awarded him the title of “Hero of Russia.”

In a related development, a car bomb explosion in southern Moscow has killed a senior Russian military officer, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported.

The blast occurred on Yasenevaya Street shortly after the officer got into his personal Kia Sorento and began driving, leaving the vehicle heavily damaged.

Initial reports indicated the officer had sustained multiple shrapnel injuries and fractures and was in critical condition. Authorities later confirmed that the victim, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, died from his wounds.

Investigators said the explosive device had been placed beneath the car and detonated as the vehicle moved.

Earlier, a high-ranking Russian officer was killed in a car explosion in the Moscow suburb of Balashikha. He was identified as 59-year-old Yaroslav Moskalik, a lieutenant general and former deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff.

Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed his death and said a criminal case had been opened in connection with the explosion, though the exact charges were not disclosed.
