Ukrainian drone operators struck a camouflaged Russian tank, military vehicles, infantry, and a supply depot near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, ArmyInform reported on October 23.

The strikes were carried out by the "Murchyky" unmanned systems battalion of Ukraine's 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. The 16th Army Corps published combat footage on its official Telegram channel showing the unit's operations against Russian positions.

"No magic. Just reconnaissance, precise calculations, operator skill, and coordinated teamwork," the 16th Army Corps wrote in its description of the operation.

According to the military's account, the drone operators targeted:

  • vehicles carrying Russian troops;

  • Russian infantry positions;

  • a camouflaged tank concealed beneath branches in a wooded area;

  • a military supply depot.

The footage showed Ukrainian drones locating and engaging Russian equipment, including a tank hidden beneath a pile of branches. ArmyInform added that the tank was destroyed.

The battalion's name, "Murchyky," roughly translates as "Purring Cats." The unit conducts drone reconnaissance and strike missions, using unmanned aircraft to locate and attack Russian troops, vehicles, and logistical infrastructure.

Ukrainian forces have also been pushing back Russian infiltration attempts elsewhere in the sector. Since June 10, 2026, Ukrainian troops have cleared three Russian infiltration groups and retaken around 10 square kilometers of forest northeast of Vovchanski Khutory, east of Vovchansk.

Russian units nonetheless likely advanced in northeastern Vovchansk and north of Zybyne. Russian gains along the wider front have slowed, with Russia losing control of nearly 300 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since March 2026.
