In northern Kharkiv region, Russian troops continued offensive operations on October 13 and 14 without achieving verified advances. Meanwhile, Russian officials and military bloggers circulated claims that Ukrainian units had been encircled in the northeastern part of the region.
On October 13, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed on the Max social media platform that Russian forces were eliminating allegedly surrounded Ukrainian troops in Mykolaivka, Varvarivka, and Nefedivka, located east of Vovchansk.
The following day, a Russian military blogger published a map suggesting that Russian forces had closed an encirclement between Vovchansk and Velykyi Burluk, surrounding Varvarivka and the area between Chorne and Nefedivka.

However, ISW analysts rejected these claims as unsupported, emphasizing that there was no verified evidence of Ukrainian forces being encircled in the area.
Russian troops also conducted limited offensive operations along the Kupiansk and Borova axes on October 14 but failed to achieve confirmed advances.
Further south, Russian forces launched attacks northeast and southeast of Lyman on October 13 and 14, although ISW reported no confirmed territorial gains. Similar attempts were recorded east of Sloviansk, particularly near Kryva Luka, Mykolaivka, Piskunivka, and Kalenyky, where Russian troops continued offensive operations without making verified progress.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces maintained offensive pressure in and around the city throughout October 13 and 14. However, ISW found no evidence of confirmed Russian advances in the area.
Meanwhile, in western Zaporizhzhia region, Russian sources reported continued offensive operations over the same period amid Ukrainian counterattacks. Despite these claims, ISW said it had not observed evidence of Russian territorial gains in this section of the frontline.
The latest assessment follows reports of Ukrainian territorial gains in the Sumy region, where Ukrainian forces recently advanced southeast of Yunakivka, northeast of the city of Sumy.
According to ISW's October 13 assessment, geolocated footage published on October 12 confirmed the Ukrainian advance, marking a verified change in frontline positions in the area.
