A fire broke out at a gas pipeline production facility in Russia’s Belgorod after a Ukrainian missile strike, Serhii Sternenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s Defense Minister, said on July 7. Video from the scene was published by the OSINT community Exilenova+.

The site is a linear production department for main gas pipelines, responsible for operating major gas pipelines and transporting natural gas to consumers in Belgorod and the wider region.

“After the missile attack in Belgorod, the linear production department for main gas pipelines and the airport area are burning. According to preliminary information, the thermal power plant was also hit. Parts of the city are experiencing disruptions to electricity and gas supply,” Sternenko said.

The facility is a branch of Gazprom Transgaz Moscow, part of Russia’s state-controlled gas giant Gazprom.

Residents living near the site reported seeing gas burning in several locations from their windows.

The acting governor of Belgorod region confirmed the missile strike and said a fire had broken out at one of the city’s facilities, with firefighters working to extinguish it.

“Energy infrastructure has been damaged again, so there are disruptions to electricity and water supply in some parts of Belgorod and several municipalities,” he wrote.

Throughout the night, residents of Belgorod and the surrounding region reported numerous explosions on social media.

Sternenko also said the airport area came under missile attack. A large fire broke out at the airfield, where fuel tanks were reportedly burning, according to preliminary information.

Earlier, an unprecedented drone threat alert was declared in Russia’s Novosibirsk region, an area located more than 3,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, marking the first time the territory has faced such a warning since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
