Russian Bomb Attack Hits Central Zaporizhzhia Leaving 18 Injured, Including Child

Russian forces targeted the civilian infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia on July 23, with five guided aerial bombs, injuring at least 18 people.

Among the wounded is a child currently in serious condition. The attack, which occurred in the late evening, damaged residential buildings and medical facilities across three locations, including a direct hit on a multi-story residential building in the city center. All 18 injured individuals are receiving medical treatment in local hospitals, according to Freedom.

"Today in the late evening, July 23, Russian occupying forces launched strikes with five guided aerial bombs on the public infrastructure of the city of Zaporizhzhia. Currently, we have three locations, and 18 injured people are already in hospitals, including one child who is in serious condition. Doctors are providing all necessary medical assistance," reported Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

He noted that one of the strikes hit the central part of the city, where numerous structures were damaged and destroyed.

"Residential buildings and healthcare institutions were damaged. There is a hit on a multi-story building," Fedorov stated.

A rescue operation is currently underway in Zaporizhzhia. Medical institutions are operating in an enhanced regime, with additional capacity prepared to provide assistance in the event of further attacks.

According to Freedom, earlier the same day, Russian forces launched a massive air attack on Kherson, dropping 10 guided aerial bombs in less than half an hour on the city center and the Korabel district.

In a separate attack, Russian strikes hit Sloviansk, injuring at least 10 people and damaging seven multi-story residential buildings.

On July 10, 2026, Russian forces launched guided aerial bomb strikes on Kramatorsk and Zaporizhzhia, killing at least five people and injuring 45 others. The midday attacks targeted residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure in both cities.

In Kramatorsk, seven guided bombs hit a high-rise building, a shop, and private residences, leaving four people dead—including a 14-year-old boy—and nine wounded. Meanwhile, the parallel strike on Zaporizhzhia killed one person and injured 29 others, destroying at least 15 private houses and damaging a multi-story apartment block, which forced the immediate evacuation of its residents.
