Russian Drone Strike Hits Residential High-Rise in Kharkiv, Sparks Fire and Injures 5 Civilians

Kharkiv came under a large-scale drone attack overnight and on the morning of June 10, with multiple strikes recorded across several districts of the city, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
The mayor reported an initial strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district, though no consequences were identified. He later clarified that the impact occurred in a forest belt area, with no casualties or damage.

According to Terekhov, two residents in the Kholodnohirskyi district initially suffered acute stress reactions as a result of the attack. The total number of injured in the district later rose to five.
Official said 17 of the strikes involved Shahed-type attack drones targeting the Kholodnohirskyi district, while one additional impact was recorded in the forest belt of the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Further strikes were reported in the Industrial district, where a drone hit a residential high-rise building. The first and second floors of the building caught fire, and at least three people have been reported injured.

In the Nemyshlianskyi district, a Shahed drone strike also caused a fire involving a vehicle and left two people injured.
Just a day earlier, Russian forces carried out a renewed overnight attack on Kharkiv region on June 9, killing three civilians, including a pregnant woman, and injuring at least 22 others, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.
In Chuhuiv, Russian forces launched a missile strike, with the type of missile still being determined. The attack damaged residential buildings, vehicles, garages, shops, and other civilian infrastructure. Two men and a 22-year-old pregnant woman were killed, while six additional people were injured.

The Prosecutor General’s Office also said Kharkiv city was targeted with strike drones, preliminarily identified as “Geran-2” UAVs.
At least eight impacts were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district, damaging residential apartment buildings, a business center, a municipal utility facility, office premises, a café, a church, and dozens of vehicles.
Sixteen people were injured, including a boy aged just over one year and girls aged 11 and 16. The children were diagnosed with acute stress reactions. A pregnant woman was also among the injured.

In the Kharkivskyi district, drones struck an industrial site and a repair workshop, damaging buildings, equipment, and vehicles. No casualties were reported there.
Overall, Russia has committed over 200,000 war crimes since the beginning of its full-scale invasion and stressed that it must be held accountable, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
