Ukrainian company YARTURA has unveiled a new aircraft-type interceptor drone, the DANCER 4.5.0, designed for high-speed engagement of aerial targets.

The company told Militarnyi on June 5 that the system is capable of reaching speeds of up to 450 km/h. It is equipped with an automatic target-homing module, enabling interception of objects at significant altitude and distance.

According to YARTURA co-founder Nadine Omelchenko, the drone demonstrated advanced maneuvering capabilities during initial flight tests, including the ability to re-acquire and re-engage a target while performing complex flight patterns around it until impact.

“The principle of operation during interception resembles a kind of dance around the target,” the company noted.

The DANCER 4.5.0 is designed to engage targets at distances of up to 30 km and altitudes of up to 4.8 km. The system was developed with visual design support from Vandog Agency, as reported by Militarnyi.

The complete system includes two interceptor drones and a ground-based command and control station. Launch is carried out using a pneumatic launcher.

The DANCER 4.5.0 include a speed range of 120 to 450 km/h, a takeoff weight of 6.8 kg, and a 1 kg warhead. The drone measures 1,056 mm in length with a wingspan of 1,275 mm and is powered by an electric propulsion system. It is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from −20°C to +55°C.

The development comes as Ukrainian drone developers General Chereshnya and STRIX have successfully incorporated a chemical booster into the Bullet interceptor drone, adapting the system to address the increasing threat posed by jet-powered Shahed-type UAVs.

According to Militarnyi, these newer enemy drones can reach speeds of up to 600 km/h, prompting Ukrainian engineers to quickly enhance existing interception technologies.
